Storm King Art Center

Cornwall, NY

Storm King Art Center is a 500-acre outdoor museum located in New York’s Hudson Valley, where visitors experience large-scale sculpture and site-specific commissions under open sky. Since 1960, Storm King has been dedicated to stewarding the hills, meadows, and forests of its site and surrounding landscape. In 2025, a major expansion was completed including new buildings and landscapes, visitor welcome pavilions with consolidated parking and accessible amenities; the construction of a conservation, fabrication, and maintenance building; all informed by a holistic approach to landscape stewardship and environmental sustainability.

Building on Storm King’s legacy of landscape stewardship and environmental sustainability, the project harnesses clean, renewable energy and enriches the Art Center’s landscape with new plantings selected for their resiliency in response to climate change. The expansion required the construction of new parking lots, and significant site and landscape work, wetland mitigation, and the conversion of four and a half acres of parking lots into landscapes for art and programming.

“Storm King is unlike anywhere else. Large-scale sculpture, trees, mountains—the combination is stunning...This ambitious capital project enriches the absolute best things about Storm King while helping chart ourpath to a more sustainable future.”
