Van Cortlandt Manor is a National Historic Landmark and home of The Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze, a major driver of economic development in the Lower Hudson Valley. Envoie has been engaged by Historic Hudson Valley, working in close collaboration with the Village of Croton-on-Hudson, to provide project management advisory services from bidding through construction to completion. 

The project includes essential infrastructure improvements to ensure the safety, access, comfort, and enjoyment of visitors to the historic site and restore landscape elements that are central to the integrity of this site. Included in the project are capital improvements, such as sidewalks connecting the site to the adjacent Metro-North railroad station, the installation of bicycle racks and electric car charging stations, modifying historic pathways to ensure that they meet universal access requirements, and upgrading electric and data systems. 

    • Ensure that the project is delivered in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding between HHV and the Village. 

    • Assist with the procurement of a suitable contractor in the context of NYSDOT’s strict project guidelines. 

    • Assist HHV with making design decisions with respect to operational, phasing and cost considerations.

    • Ensuring compliance with New York State Department of Transportation funding requirements which impact bidding and construction practices. 

    • National Historic Landmark site which must be sensitively managed. 

    • Construction logistics and staging over multiple years to ensure no disruption to the annual Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze.
