OPEN SPACE

Storm King Art Center is a 500-acre outdoor museum located in New York’s Hudson Valley, where visitors experience large-scale sculpture and site-specific commissions under open sky. Since 1960, Storm King has been dedicated to stewarding the hills, meadows, and forests of its site and surrounding landscape. Storm King is now embarking on two components of a larger Master Plan project: 1.) a new Conservation, Fabrication and Maintenance Building to support artists and staff for creating and working on large scale art pieces and 2.) a new Welcome Sequence for visitors with consolidated parking and accessible amenities, including restrooms, a ticketing pavilion and shelter for group arrivals. These projects require the construction of new parking lots, and significant site and landscape work, in addition to wetland mitigation.

Building on Storm King’s legacy of landscape stewardship and environmental sustainability, the Project harnesses clean, renewable energy and enriches the Art Center’s landscape with new plantings selected for their resiliency in response to climate change. Four and half acres of former parking lots will be converted to landscape for art and programming.
